About . . .

Christine says:
“I was sitting in a Portakabin office on a building site in Sydney, temping while travelling on a mid-career gap year.  A weekly column in the Sydney Morning Herald written by members of the public caught my eye.  Inspired, a short while later saw my first published work appearing in that very slot: It’s Hard Work Opting Out of the Rat Race, under the pseudonym Christina Rockliffe.

Once back in the UK I knew I wanted to be self-employed but, forgetting the Sydney success, couldn’t work out down which road I should go.  That was until someone asked me: What’s your dream job?  The rest, as they say, is history – and one that’s still in the making.

Once I’d openly acknowledged that writing really was my dream it’s as if the heavens listened up and along came my first commission: as a contributor to
Superliving by Peter Cox and Peggy Brusseau.

Following that I started to develop my own ideas for books and began approaching publishers.  First with
101 Ways to Start Your Own Business, quickly followed by Panic Attacks: What they are, why they happen and what you can do about them.

As many writers know, once published a book takes on a life of its own.  And where it leads, you as author must follow.  It’s taken me into recording studios, television studios, into magazines, as well as onto speaking platforms – including an invitation to participate in addressing an audience of European-wide delegates about unemployment (
Life Without Work).

And then sometimes your book can surprise you by making its own way in the world into places you might not have expected: onto the Books on Prescription list for doctors (
Panic Attacks); the front page of a national newspaper (Life Without Work); into an academic assessment study in the US of the top 50 best-selling self-help books for anxiety, depression and trauma (Panic Attacks) – and even onto television (Jobfinder)!

Since the success of that first article, my writing continues to make its way in the world.  And with each book I follow wherever it leads – and still continue to be surprised by the life each one enjoys.”
